About the event
Book Launch & Exhibition: RuckUs Rubix
A documentation of REAP’s pioneer art exchange program which transpired between May – June 2008, which is compiled in a book entitled RuckUs RubiX. It describes the program from its inception, to the final exhibit of works by its participants, with the same title. Alongside the book launch, the exhibition displayed and showed the works created by the six participating artists for the program: Iggy Rodriguez, Ivan Roxas and Buen Calubayan from the Philippines; Jeremy Sharma, Joshua Yang and Wong Lip Chin from Singapore; moderated by Filipino artist Emmanuel Garibay.
The book’s purpose was to serve as a reference, as well as a source of motivation to different art communities, on how the formation of exchange groups can kindle artistic inspiration from a different context and environment. It also reaffirms that such artistic dialogues and exchanges can stimulate and provoke artistic inventiveness and as well as a deeper passion and meaning of their own individual art.
