Breathless

Breathless is an anthology of metaphors of sexuality, distress and agony, some provocative, some compelling with visions of physical and spiritual collapse. But there is always redemption in Ventura’s work offering the sense of the lively, with the candied artifice harnessing humour. The artist has a recognizable technique of applying sugared tones of bright colours and x-ray visions of the future, otherwise signalling life tinged with a hopeful liberation from fatality. Whilst Olan Ventura’s oeuvre is rooted deeply in the physical and emotional suffering inflicted by one human being unto another, there is indeed a healthy dose of pop rock energy in his works that resuscitates our otherwise diffident souls.
