About the event

In participation in Art Trek Philippines 2008.

Feauturing twelve young contemporary artists frim the Philippines.

Filipino art is going through  a regeneration today.  Whilst social  themes reflect strongly at the core of Philippine modern art, the Filipino urbanites emerge with a strong and vivid  art form, by adding a twist of the sublime .  With a country that is full of dissimilarities:  the wealthy and the poor, the rebels and the pious,  the upright and the corrupt,  young Filipino artists today have taken the stance to exemplify the same contrast and argument embedded in their society.  The difference?  They are now more emblematic  than stark, with a hint of grunge and grime.   The themes are young and dreamy, sometimes dark, morbid or sarcastic, but offers an intelligent  approach.  It is this that perhaps hints at a mindful re-shaping of contemporary Filipino art.
