About the event

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore, in collaboration with Artesan Gallery + Studio, is pleased to present Panoply, a group exhibition as the culminating event of the 2017 Philippine Art Trek in Singapore.

The Philippine Art Trek in Singapore was conceived as a platform to promote Filipino artists and their works to a wider audience utilizing Singapore’s position as the cultural hub of the region. Now on its 11th year since its inaugural launch in 2007, the Art Trek has stayed on, thanks largely to the dedication of our partner galleries like Artesan Gallery + Studio. Filipino artists have come and gone through the Trek’s doors and we are proud to be part of their journey in establishing themselves in the global art scene.

In Panoply, the curator infuses some symbolism to this showcase exhibition by putting together eleven masterpieces of eight of both established and emerging Filipino artists including Araceli Dans, Justin Nuyda, Jose Tence Ruiz, Janice Young, Raffy Napay, Ferdie Montemayor, Victor Balanon and Kirby Roxas. The context of life and the environment that have clearly evolved in the span of time covered by the artists are reflected in the works that are on display. This is a fitting tribute to the Art Trek, which derives its appeal and identity from the diversity that characterize the Filipino artists, which allow them to freely explore a wide range of possibilities in both theme and style.

Appreciation is extended to all who have contributed both directly and indirectly to realize this exhibition. We wish to thank the artists, patrons and collectors, and most specially Roberta Dans of Artesan Gallery + Studio, for collectively allowing the Philippine Embassy to host this showcase event.

I also wish to thank the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy, each of whom has enthusiastically contributed to the realization of this year’s Philippine Art Trek.

It is my hope that we will continue working together in supporting our artists and share their unique works of art to audiences beyond Philippine shores in future editions of the Philippine Art Trek.

Mabuhay!
